So I am alive (clearly) although the flight might have been one of the worst I'd been on. While later flights were completely cancelled, mine was just delayed and when we boarded, you could feel the plane swaying in the wind even while it was stationary. And it was packed and noisy and I was sat at the back with a whole class of school kids who screamed at take off, screamed at the turbulence and screamed during the landing. I managed to get the last bus home and passed by all the party people in their costumes for Carnaval. I got the impression that the festivities were just ongoing from Friday. But I started feeling really rough on the Monday morning and by the time I got back to my apartment I just wanted to sleep. Tuesday was just full on shit and I stayed in all day on the sofa under my blanket and barely unpacked anything.
Today I was back at work and everything has changed. I got a text from Jess on Friday while I was in a cafe about joining her team... The Woman Studio team has been disbanded and we've been split between Team A (tops and dresses) and Team B (bottoms and outerwear) for the main ZARA Woman collections and while I'm so relieved that I'm in Team B.. OHMYGOD SO MANY NEW THINGS TO DEAL WITH. And on top of that two more (one already gone a couple of weeks ago now) people will be leaving the company and in the midst of still learning and settling in I feel like I'm losing an arm.
It feels like everytime I leave I come back and I have to relearn everything all over again. Now it's a new team, although luckily I'm still working with the same buyer, but it's still different. Things always seemed more busy, more stressful, on this side. I'm a little nervous and even though Jess keeps telling me that there's no reason to be, I can't help it. I have a new desk and a new place and new colleagues. I don't have a bad feeling about it, I'm just a bit sad that we've had to break up for the moment (or so we've been told) because the Studio line still exists but it's more on hold for now while we help out on the main collections. We're still waiting to be briefed for the new projects ahead and perhaps things will begin to settle after. For now we're continuing with what we were working on before and more research for the next season.
I guess we'll see what happens in the next few weeks.
(Ok so the photo for this post obviously has nothing to do with what I just wrote but whatever, it was a better day and I miss it right now.)
