Right now I'm sitting on the terrace at Hermans, the killer of all vegetarian restaurants, nursing my second cup of green tea after I've just inhaled two full plates of food. I'm listening to the surrounding conversations while soft jazz notes are floating out from the speakers.
I'm having to type this up now because I missed the feeling of pen and paper. The feeling of writing more than just a to-do list in my notebook everyday.
Across and down (because it's on a mini-cliff top) from Hermans is Fotografiska, Stockholm's Museum of Photography and probably my most favourite museum in the city. We didn't have time to see the exhibition during our visit last Christmas so it's been a full year since I've been back.
This time the featured exhibition showcased the work of the dutch fashion photography duo, Inez and Vinoodh, and holy moly it was so impressive! There was digital manipulation and sculptural features and colour and sex and fashion and art and famous faces I could actually name!! I learnt that they also directed Lady Gaga's 2013 music video for "Applause" which had me sat in a corner in a dark room while it blasted from a projected screen and there was a whole bunch of weird and interesting images that were more like picture puzzles than straight up photographs.
I spent equal amounts of time in the exhibition and the museum shop but I checked my purse before I considered buying anything. Not enough. Damn.
